Tashkent, Uzbekistan - Burnt Hills High School Graduate, Hannah Martin (25) turned in a terrific performance at the Tashkent Grand Prix making it all the way to the 63kg final to take a silver medal October 5, 2013. Martin lost only in the final to Mariana Barros (Brazil) who she had previously defeated in the semis at the Argentina World Cup. Hannah also took home the $2000 purse for placing second. Martin, from the Glenville, NY Jason Morris Judo Center continued her fantastic run in 2013 which has included Bronze medals at the Uruguay World Cup, Pan Am Championships in Costa Rica, Mongolia Gran Prix and El Salvador World Cup, A silver medal at the Argentina World Cup, Gold medals at the US Nationals, Ontario Open, and the Pan Am Team Championships along with placing 9th in her first world championships in Brazil just a month ago. Martin is now a career high #10 on the world ranking list at 63kg. "Hannah is on a magical ride right now" 4x Olympian and JMJC Head Coach, Jason Morris said. "She continues to reap the benefits of being all in and training very hard. She also has been working extremely hard on improving her technique, not just being the toughest and strongest out there which is definitely showing with all her results." Morris concluded. Martin will next compete at her own club's event, the 12th Annual Morris Cup Judo Championships held at Burnt Hills High School in NY, Sunday, October 13, 2013. Martin's JMJC teammate, Tony Sangimino also made the trip to Uzbekistan but lost a tough first round 81kg battle to eventual bronze medalist, Hannes Conrad (Germany) and was eliminated. Sangimino will also be competing at the Morris Cup.
